The United States Senate is debating healthcare reform and a final vote is imminent. Amendments are being offered by Senators each day and it is critical that you email your United States Senators and ask them to support an amendment that would include vision rehabilitation professionals. Vision rehabilitation services prevent accidents, reduce falls and fractures, and help people learn new techniques for independent travel, food preparation, health management, and information access, that improves overall health and prevent injuries. A recent analysis from a health economist from Johns Hopkins School of Public Health, estimates the cost to cover these professionals would be at most $25 million per year- a small amount of intervention that will lead to long term healthcare savings.
